Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

I have chosen a few breeds which I might get:
Cochin, Australorp, and Sussex.
I want friendly breeds for the most part. If they lay well, then that's better. :)
I am confused with my chickies. One has long feathers growing fast and the other has slow feathers. So I should assume that the short feathered one (Sophie) is a boy, and the longer feathered one (Basil) is a girl. My problem is that Basil is always acting roo-ish and jumps at Sophie and gets all in her face and acts all tough, while Sophie is as calm as can be. I don't want a mean rooster. What is yall's opinion?

Basil (the yellow one with the long, black patterned feathers) even has a nice looking tail. (You can't see it in this picture) but she/he is mean.
Sophie (the orange one) has no tail ('cept for little stubby thins as of yet.) And she/he is friendly and curious. This is the reason for me wanting to get more chicks- Sophie is always being picked on by Basil.
So what do you think? Boy and girl, and which is which? Maybe Sophie is a feminine male, and Basil is just a masculine female.

My broody got up to eat this morning, so I went to check how many eggs she's sitting on... All I can say is thank goodness the incubator will be empty in a week and

I won't need it before then! By the way, she's a bantam...

I think telling sex from how quickly they feather out depends a lot on the breed. You will probably know better in another couple weeks.
Good morning.

I am alive. Fever has gone. I am drained but surviving. Thanks for your concerns
Must have been spring fever. Spring is here and the fever is gone. Rest up. Take your vitamins.
