grr incubator is getting on my nerves lol had to move it to another room to get the temps more stable.. finally have it setting between 101-103 steady giving it another day before i pop the eggs in there..only good thing with another day wait is might increase the egg count going in ... i think after this im giving away that bator and waiting to buy a better one with a turner ...since we are going to be in the middle of moving not much after this hatch i wont need one for a little while anyway ...

My youngest loves these babies so much! Everyday when he comes home from school he scoops them up and loves them for a little while!

oh cooler bator party!

Broody question....

Is it normal that I caught "them" off the nest already? They only hatched a day ago? she was teaching them to eat the chick starter I threw on the floor!

Not a great pic but I got excited! she was only up for a short time and went back to the two remaining eggs and so did the chicks!

Sally, do you think it would be okay to introduce the barred chick to the others? She has been in my room for a week, and they seem healthy. They smell kind of gross, like poop, and they are very alert and happy. I don't want to let the small white one (Maddy) in with Basil, 'cause he is mean, But I think the barred one is big enough to fend for herself.

That is one cute chicken! The babies are cute too! I don't know the answer to your question. As long as she is back on the nest, they should be okay I guess.

I know I said no more eggs in the bator but ummmm well you see, ummmm yea I have been adding just a few

I was just lamenting the untrustworthiness of styro incubators on another thread. This is my first experience with one, and I honestly can't believe the manufacturers get away with charging as much as they do for these persnickety piles of junk. It's a wonder you guys get any eggs to hatch at all! I bought a 1588 with auto turner, total was just under $200. After all the glowing reviews on this thing, I must admit I was expecting to be blown away. I'm actually really disappointed in its performance. I guess if people don't know there's better out there ... I've got less money than that in my coolerbator, and it's way more trustworthy. Potentially holds a lot more eggs, too. (shh, don't tell hubby!)

After I'm done hatching with it (the 1588) this year, I'll be giving this thing away on CL. Turner too, clunky, jarring mess that it is. I can build better.

Okay, I'm done ranting now. Imma shut up and go back to singing "Black Betty" to the eggs.

Those are adorable chicks, Sally!

I would wait a week yet, I know its a pain but its something you will always have to do when adding new birds from other places and such.
