Ok so wow, a lot of trauma on here. I hope everyone that is in a low place. Recovers soon and moves on! I think this is why with my last eggs I never opened them to see why they were not hatching. I figured if they were going to they would have and I thought best let nature decide!! Of course next time if I hear loads of chirps and excitement. Ill be ready to save. But I have read a lot if post on these forums and it seems that if a chick does not make it out of the shell it seems riddled with inevitable problems!! Then again other times they are fine. Just needed that extra help! So hard to make those calls and I feel for all of you. And I know my time will come!

On another note. I just wanted to show all you meat eaters my very first Homemade Ham!! I cured it myself along with a load of Bacon (of varies types)

It's a small one at just under 13pounds in weight!
I actually got this from The PIG I just butchered all by myself!!
I am now waiting for it to cool then bone out slice and pack! Omg it taste ridiculously Delectable! And Deliciously Tempting to eat it!!
It has been cured for 16 Day and very slow Cooked in my Aga for 14 hours in Pear and apple Cider. Then glazed and baked for 15 mins either side in a Honey and Ginger and Cider Glaze!!!
Yum!!
I'm so doing that again!

I think that is a totally legit question! I hope someone answered it. I am skimming over what I missed while I drink my coffee! Congrats by the way!

Is that hen and her babies apart from the other hens and roo? Someone who has had a broody can probably tell you more about that but I thought I read it was best to keep them apart so you do not have anyone picking or pecking on the babes.

Thanks for the congrats! I'm so excited. Wish I could stay home from work today...

Both broodies are separate from every one else. I have them in a warm storage room in my house in separate areas. No one has answered that previous question yet.

Another question...
Last night at around 10:30pm when I checked and found the chick, I found that another egg under that same hen had internally pipped. This morning at 6:00am when I checked again, it was chirping from the inside but had not made a break through yet. Should I be concerned?

Lol actually after doing the pig. My husband was so repulsed. From looking at it. And the thought. It may not be too long before we are all vegetarian. He went off meat for days! Men. They are such strange CREATURES!!
I can't honestly afford to buy meat from superstores. It is so so costly. So that's why I did it all myself. So that we could save some money. And a lot too! But really is worth it. It would not bother me at all being vegetarian. It has to be said though I don't have a problem butchering but I would killing. It would take a while. I think if my hubby said that's it don't want anymore meat I'd be like ok! But he won't. Maybe I will have to sacrifice some more animals for him to. It would be worth it. Sound like such a contradictor. Lol
