These are bought eggs. I found out after starting them that the lady had washed them. The humidity is 70 to 75%. It skyrocketed when I added water.

Be patient. Your humidity is good. As they hatch your humidity will go up so don't worry about that. It can take 24 hours from pip to zip. They have lots of absorbing to do. Don't worry about the washed part.

My wife is home watching and says the one I hatched out is trying real real hard to get up but is stuck to the shell and cant get up. She was raised in town and was never around any farm animals until she married me.

I think the hardest part of incubating is hatch day. It is so hard not to open it and help or hold a fuzz ball. For the first timers just try to be patient and keep yourself busy.

This is great advice, but I imagine very hard to follow!! i haven't incubated yet, trying to get my shtuff together first, then go for it. This is the one thing that keeps being said, I have noticed, shows how important it is!!!!
As someone who's gathering info first, I really appreciate you all and your experience!!

Went out to coop this morning and was surprised by this.
Now question???
Should I put the mom and chicks in a lil coop together with food and water or take the chicks and put them in a brooder????

Chicksooner- can there be a little water placed carefully where the chick is stuck, or in this situation, what is the best thing to do?

at this point just let it work its own way out. Some take a little longer to kick the shell off. Did you notice if there was still any yolk left in the bottom of the egg. It sounds like it was not quite ready yet. I would leave it. Each time you open the bator you can be compromising all the other eggs that are pipped. Drops in humidity can shrink wrap and then you will be trying to help all of them. If you really need to open the bator to check this chick it needs to be quick and you need to have warm water in a mist spray bottle to spray the inside of the bator not the eggs.

I separated my broody from the rest of the flock (of 4) , because the first time she went broody her little chickie died. Don't know why . If she still has eggs, I would put them together, but what happened with my broody was that she abandoned the last egg. I had to end up assisting that little guy, then when I went to put it back with her she tried to kill it. I would watch closely, I took her out right after that, and have the chickies in the brooder, mama back in coop.
