I hatched a set of 12 eggs all with detached air cells.

I don't think it would of never worked If I didn't have that egg turner for my incubator.

In Sallys article in her sig, it just says to up the humidity so that the air cells don't grow too quickly, so I upped it to 50 because I had loose cells and saddle shaped ones and it worked at keeping them in the normal growth rate. Big buttttt, it also made them awful sticky with lots of gel type gook and I had to help them out at the end because as they zipped and popped the top, the gook dried onto the chicks body and they got stuck. It's a win some, lose some with shipped eggs because of the rough handling by the post.
another great reason to simply weigh if they are very expensive or extremely important eggs, what I have found with my own bator is that I add too many different eggs both shipped as well as my own so I cant mess with humidity for each sets of eggs, so I have to go with an average of what my air cell loss looks like. and use the humiditiy as a tool that way, if they grow to fast I need to add more too slow take it away
WHAT???????????? GROW TO FAST????????????? That could be it. Does more humidity make the chick grow slower or are we talking about air cells? My chicks seem to large for the shell? They cant move!!!!!

By the way, the chick that couldnt raise its head or even move is moving this morning and raising its head and trying to get its legs underneath it. Its still very weak and cant eat or drink on its own. I fed it from the dropper several times last night and gave it a good feeding this morning. It readily sucked it down or so it seemed. I am going home at lunch and feeding it again. I actually have hope now. Its still a couple days away from living but yesterday I had very little hope. That Sav A Chick is some awful good stuff.

CANCER Dioxins Waterers to eggs / Meat~ Finding info for our own safety is tricky finding info for chickens and if they retain dioxins in eggs and meat even worse! so I will assume that I will need to go with human guides for plastics usage! And I will keep this in mind as I do heat oatmeal and FF up during very cold months in the microwave!

see here.....http://www.pbs.org/strangedays/pdf/StrangeDaysSmartPlasticsGuide.pdf SMART PLASTICS GUIDE and yes everyone should have a lookey!
(Now if anyone can figure out what type plastic our plastic waterers are made out of I would be greatful!

You know the cancer risks from heated plastic water bottles? well our ckn waterers get warm and even hot in the summer, can the toxins stay in chicken carcass and even their eggs?
I thought the plastic releasing chemicals was only if it was microwaved.

mealworms sound like disgusting little creatures.

All these people buying them too. I am glad I dont have that issue.
My chickens find their own bugs.

That's worrying. Good thing I don't have a microwave and don't warm things up in plastic containers.

Morning Everyone!!

Stopping in to say Hi, and then out the door to go clean, dust the coops. You all are giving me the creepy crawlies with all of the mite/lice talk. I'm taking it as a sign. Clean the coops, or I could be the next one posting about my nightmare.... I'm off, and praying I stay motivated
