You've been busy. Be patient with the Brahmas, it will be worth it later.

I haven't heard from 3D... the thread's been quieter than usual the past few days. I wonder why

Silver is still busy with the map. Been collecting zip codes over the past few days.

DH and I are making halupki's (stuffed cabbage) it smells yummy already! I love cabbage! chickens will get the spare ends!!

I'm back from a camping trip so now it's time to catch up.

I'm putting a bunch of eggs into lockdown today including one that is cracked. I dropped it while candling on day 12. It was cracked pretty badly in multiple places, but the membrane wasn't punctured. I decided to try using antibiotic ointment to seal it and so far it has worked. The embryo is still kicking.

Good Morning all!!
Looks like everyone has been so busy this weekend!!
Hope all is well everywhere!!
I have been working on my duck pen, got the pond buried, despite DH working all weekend!!!
Now I must either get the posts set or the house built-

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone who has ducks could take a sec and look over my pics in the chat thread and see if you could give me any ideas, suggestion, whatnot. These are my first ducks, and thinking about adding 1 or 2 more females to keep Otto busy-LOL
Thanks in advance- here is the link to the post-

Hope everyone is having a great day so far!!!!
Sal nice to see you back on!!!!

Survived the night. It was a rough night for the mid west. I spent the last 2 days cleaning out the garage so I could get my car in. I was prepared except for the whole where will we hide thing. Every spring I swear we are going to get a storm shelter. I have been in Oklahoma for 13 years and am originally from Texas. So I have seen a few storms. Prayers for the people of Shawnee, OK where they were hit pretty hard.

I am off to try and break a broody or give her something besides golf balls...

ok all you wacky hatchers-I figure this is a good place to ask this question-
What kind of chicken is the best layer and consumes the least food?
And, If you move chickens to a new coop is it normal for them to slow down on laying ?
I moved the LFs maybe 10 days ago, and now their production has slowed considerably-
I couldn't fill my egg order for this week

I was wondering how you had fared-
My sister lives in N. Texas- Paris area, and I still haven't heard from her yet

Sally or anybody, I have a question, is it possible to incubate chicken and goose eggs. in the same incubator at the same time? Or would I be better off in separate incubator?

hmm... There are lots of good egg laying breeds that consume less feed. Not sure which ones are best. Probably the sex-linked like gold stars, comets, and etc... also purebreds such as leghorns. I'm sure there are many more, but those are the ones that come to mind.

and yeah, it's normal for production to decrease after a move.
