Lucas had Harmonys "Anchor" Serama hen out today, she just wont stop her broodiness! But letting her out in the yard was too funny! That stinker would NOT go on the grass! she tiptoed back to me and hopped on the log balance beam we have for the kids to play on! I am going to tell Harmony we need to change her name to MISS Priss!

She was one of the hens we hatched in December I think it was from Bhep on here! WE LOVE our serama! truly we do!

So tiny and pretty!

A Russian(?) orloff... I tried to quote but couldn't so I forgot exactly what it was... I need to see a picture.

I may be forming a new addiction. One I need to keep from my husband as it isn't providing any income. And I need a new chicken coop...a cute one for the cute chicks. OMG I'm doomed...

these pics were around 2.5 months old, they just went into the layer pen see here.... Russian Orloff images

I forgot to add they are on top of the list of NICE friendly chickens too! <3 and they are friendly!!

Just a little advise to those with broodies, take unhatched eggs and place in bator or at least candle. I did so Tuesday and came home wednesday to two more chicks and one internally pipped and the rest are a few days away from pipping.

upright in a cup so they cant get out prematurely, they have a chance for infection but remember ducks take up to 2-3 days to fully absorb and hatch, much different than chicks. I rarely EVER have to take that inner membrane off a chick unless its malpositioned and I need to free its head and beak. They always get out on their own too.

But for now let them have time
and use the cup
Thank you for your reply, I hope they will do good. I did put them up like you suggested.

Today's Summary 5/29/2013

Ms Steak thinks the summaries are awesome and I love her name ... which apparently led to some confusion as people figured it out lol
she claims it is her one moment of brilliance

mstricer says she has babies for sale ... and she had steak for dinner lol

TnJ thinks sally's surprise hatchlings are awesome

Sally said to do what is best for the whole gang and continue as you are .. i believe that was for ms steak ...

and suggested mstricer get the dishes similar to hers post 16775

sally was feeling a bit dumb over everyone getting ms steak's name

Tony put 17 eggs into lockdown .. had 2 pipping and could hear them chirping and had one he was still unsure about

bigT88 has 10 shipped eggs out of 32 total -2/10 have hatched as of day 23 and it was asked - help out or wait ?

sally ask how hot tony was running and needs to lock down to but has a weak quail left in the bater

gracie02 shared a map ... its the pa one .. i am still working on ours and waiting fro a few zipcodes for anyone who has not sent theirs or posted it

sally said yes bigT88 should assist and to see the assisting article in her signature or on her profile

tony said heat has been running between 99-101 and and claims lockdown date can be confusin as there is some variance in opinions

bigT88 asked how can you tell if a chick is internally pipped beyond hearing a chirp and answered sally with fan bator and calibrated ...
oh and to tell internal pip you can candle ...

gardeningmama said goddmorning with the cutest little froogy ..or at least that is what it looks like to me ....post 16790
and says has a crazy week starting today as she offered up the property for a bake/food/yard sale on saturday ...today she has to clean the shed and clean the house and do massive amounts of yard work ...she is excited and scared silly !! I hope things go well for ya !! we are doing a yard sale saturday ...
sally sees trampled yard with cupcake papers for mulch .. lets hope not !!

and asked tom if he was completely dry or did he use humidity as a tool to acheive correct weight loss

yes he measured and had to add water as they lost too much too fast

Sally hopes he has external pips when he gets home

tony has two more egg customers !! congrats !!

sally suggested a link for tony to get some eggs and chickens and he said not right now !!!

cochins said tony's temps were probably a little high and hopes he has a great hatch
and cochins goslings pipped externally around 5 pm yesterday so now when she talk to them they talk back
and just found sally on fb

tony said he really cant right now too manyu breed and hed need 7 bators and chicksooner suggested why not a big one like oz posted lol

chicksooner said cant wiat to see the goslings and is an internet addict apparently lol

TnJ says to address hot and cold spots in a hovabator type incubator just turn the top cover periodically instead of shifting eggs ... that is simpler I am sure

cochins asked but wouldnt the eggs in the middle still remain the same but has never had that issue ...

mstricer does believe she has a dish like the one sally mentioned

sally asked ig cochins friended her ... did ya'll ever get that straight lol
and suggested she look at the emergency special on ideal
cochins seems to be declining that idea

sally is an enabler ... she admitted it lol

cochins tried selling chicks like that before and had issues and doesn't really like people at her house ...

sally ask sumi if she is ok ?
and she misses oz ..again ...as do we all ...

and wonders .when did they add the infor to articles ... congrats sally

and suggested an online party !!

and ms steak feels very clever now

Tnj likes sally's avy !!

cochins suggested if buying the chicks was profitable .. maybe sally should do it lol

cochins stated and asked :
One of the goslings sounded panicky so I opened up the shell a bit to see what was going on. I moistened the membrane with antibiotic ointment and it looks like most of the blood vessels have receded. When I was finished, the Q tip ended up with a yellow liquid on it.

Is it ever normal for yellow liquid to be in the shell? or am I dealing with another ruptured yolk sac?

tommorow is lockdown for motorcyclechick and tuesday is the first broody's hatch date and another began sitting yesterday
and ask if we could tell her what page the last summary is on ... sally suggested doing a search of the thread for my posts ..

sally's lesson of the say post 16853 ... think twice before touching those active veins !!

rennerae posted some awesome chick babies and a cute baby over the human variety ..post 16856~7

and cochins needs help ASAP ... see post 16859 should be right before this unless someone else has posted ... im not expert but hope she gets answers and that gosling makes it !!!

when i had a chick in a similar situation recently oz suggested back in the bator then check ... and the chick did ok but not sure ...
