Wanted to let everyone know because you know how quickly the sizes can run out. So Excited!! END OF DORK RANT!
Those tops are nice! Which colour did you order?

Hi everyone! I had a very poor hatch of shipped eggs. Despite Wisher1000's wonderful packaging, they came a long way and were beat up. Out of 14 eggs 1 chick hatched. 3 were early deaths, 4 were late deaths, and 7 were scrambled. The chick that hatched is an adorable Silver Campine. She is very healthy and will run around the brooder, eat, and drink. I am however looking for 1 or 2 other chicks so that she doesn't have to be alone.

Here is the Silver Campine chick. I still need a name for her.

She likes to cuddle with her new friend mirror.

So after two really bad hatches on shipped eggs I will definitely get local eggs next time. Even with a great packaging job like Wisher1000's, shipping eggs is very hard on the eggs.
Thats cool

I know in SC it is .25 per bird. If your breeding to sell chicks and eggs all birds must be tested. They check birds, coop, brooder and incubator. Brooder can not be in the same room as incubator. Room must be dust free and nothing sitting on top. That's just some of it.

Interesting. I know it is very different from state to state and also I think alot of what they check depends on the tester. I had marked on the application that I had incubators but he scratched it out because they were just the styro bators. The app didn't specify what type. Also here it is $5 no matter how many birds. Test everything over 4 months old. The tester that came out was very easy going. I had anticipated him checking everything but he looked around and said let's get to it.

My hatches are usually around 1/3 hatching from shipped eggs. The last batch I had, which was very well packaged, were scrambled. Hatching them is an enjoyable hobby so I'm happy if I hatch any.

Maybe try getting eggs from a different part of the country or only from within your state and see if thar helps. I can't get hatching eggs locally for the quality of breeds that I want so I've got to do shipping.

Don't give up!!!!
the thing is that it comes out expensive. I candle mine last night and none have veins, today is the six day so maybe in a couple of days something happens

. huu.........I should have learned more before spending the $#

Found an empty shell by a broody. It was bloody and nasty. So took her off the nest to inspect and there were a few nasty shavings but other than that nothing else. So did she eat the embryo?
