Day 17..

getting nervous, I was going to use a different incubator to hatch in, plugged it in yesterday to get it regulated. Glad I did, the dang thing broken and won't go below 120 degrees..

I have another batch due to hatch in another incubator next week. I guess after this first hatch that incubator will become my incubator/brooder. I think I am getting addicted to this hobby

Doesn't take long. LOL

Locked down four mutt eggs last night. Every bantam Cochin egg was clear. I need to have a talk with my roo...

The day after I set these, one of the bantam Cochins went broody. She has good timing, and since these four were really set more as heat sinks, I'll give her any chicks that hatch and I'll hopefully avoid having to drag out the brooder.

Its day 21. All but one hatched and the last one quit with a week or so to go. The bator is already soaking and will be cleaned this afternoon and I will have it ready for another lockdown tomorrow on my polish eggs.

Well, thanks to BYC member Stevens21, I picked up two buddies for my lonely Silver Campine chick yesterday. Stevens21 found them on Crags list for me. A local farm was selling them. They had ordered 300 barred rocks to sell in Lucusville Ohio but they still had 280. They were not far from my house. I grabbed the two darkest ones that I could find, hoping that they are female. I brought them home and put them in with the little Campine chick. While I was dipping their beaks in the water, she started to attack them. She continually pecked their eyes and combs even though she is half their size!

I guess she was just trying to show them who was boss because by the end of the night she calmed down and they are getting along great.

I want to get a bumper sticker too. Luckily kiddo's too young to care. LOL All you need now is one of those licence plate holders

Apparently he doesn't appreciate the whole "Chillin' With My Peeps" thing as much as I do.:/ [/COLOR] [COLOR=800080]Albeit, he does tolerate the bumper sticker that humiliates my kids to no end..[/COLOR]

I will have to get one of those lol...dh was offended when I went and sat in the chicken pen instead of hangin with him while he was BBQ'n..... LOL.
