no - if they are going to be xrayed one of those film bags would help but foil is too thin.Hey OZ, wondering if alum foil put around the inner box would help protect eggs from xrays during shipping?
I am very close to throwing in the towel and not going for NPIP and keeping my CCL, serama and brahma and selling off the other breeds. I am having way too much stress, with all this rain this month it stinks so bad, the runs are terrible mess and I used to have fun and enjoy this, now its a major pain in the butt and I slipped and fell and got chicken **** all over me including in my hair when I fell! My dogs don't require the work my chickens do, DH wants to know why I didn't just open a kennel. DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good question and I guess I should have if I could afford to build one!Sorry for the rant I am miserable and confused and confused and even more confused.![]()
Should I stay or should I go now... dam song been running in my head all day long!!!![]()
12hr a day job, no sleep. your birds are getting the brunt of you over-acheiver-ism, slow down a tad coch.I have been feeling the same way with my birds lately... It used to be so much fun, but right now it's very stressful. I just cleaned out the coop Sunday and put fresh hay in yesterday, but it's already disgusting. It's been raining for the past month, so everything is wet. I keep thinking about going back to my little pet flock, but I really don't want to do something that I'll later regret. I'm sure the stress of this summer job is getting to me too; 12 hours a day is more than I thought it'd be.
I just need to suck it up and hope that things improve because I do love my birds.
Doug - I'm glad that you figured out the cause of the deaths and I hope that you don't lose any more.
All 5 baby birds are still alive. I found out that they are black capped chickadees. They are being fed every 1 - 2 hours and they wake me up multiple times during the night to feed them. I haven't been getting any sleep....Oh, and did I mention they eat $15 worth of worms each day? They are driving me nuts, but I promised myself and that little girl that I would do my best to take care of them until they are ready to go off on their own. They are simply adding to the stress...![]()
