be careful on the quail. started with 9 this spring, sold a few, sold and traded some eggs, still have them coming out of my ears. hatch to lay is 6 weeks on those little buggers, ive seen insects that multiply slower.

the Philippines loves their quail eggs. my kids eat 4 each most days as their afternoon snack.

Out of everything I am doing, I will most likely recoup investments from them before anything else.

Was wondering and I think I know the answer out off everyone here how many is this business and how many a simple little hobby gone crazy?hubby thinks its a business but its the beginning of me being that crazy chicken lady who lives up the hill and I'm skipping happily toward that goal lol

Hahaha, I AM that crazy chicken lady who lives up the hill...and I have an itty-bitty egg biz; I sell about 7 doz week and it's a labor or love, not a huge money-maker. Actually not a money making enterprise at all. I was fantasizing I could sell enough eggs to help pay the taxes...but everyone loves my eggs and my birds are so pretty. And they make me laugh.

Ok day 14 we have had a few temp spikes 104 in the incubator no idea why but I've candled the eggs can't see into the blue that we'll so those are a total mystery even about the air sacks the brown looks ok so far only a couple look possibly infirtile the 9 jungle fowl 3 look really good to me but I haven't hatched them before so we will see the 3 duck eggs ok 1 looks totally infirtile one looks mabey 1 looks fertile but this is all speculation we will see just keeping you guys informed

I have a sweet and gentle Buff Orpington named Sally (she was Sally before I was ever on BYC!). She has been broody for about a week and a half but she's not going to hatch anything out of her eggs because they aren't fertile. How so I break her? I put her with the others at night and she sleeps w them. But next morning she can be found in the next box.
give her some of your eggs! LMAO!!

They don't travel well for incubating though, the more the merrier for the size of them.
