Brand new chick pooped bright green soon after hatching? Is that normal? None of the others did this. This chick did have a little bit of a tough time but ended up having a fully absorbed yolk and is vigorous and otherwise happy.

Yes, it is normal to have a green first poop and great that it pooped at all. You want them to poop soon so you know plumbing is working and not stopped up. Best wishes on your chicks!

How soon can I tell if the chicks are Roos or pullets ? Also going into lockdown tomarrow here's hopping for a good hatch
Some breeds are auto sexing from hatch, others can be feather sexed and still others you almost have to wait until they lay or crow. Lol! What breeds are they.

ellie what breeds do you have?

I have a light Sussex, a silver sussex, a black rock, a Colombian black tail, a bluebelle, two warrens, 3 welsummers, a cream legbar and 8 mutts (black copper marans cockerel with above hens!). I also now have araucana, brahma and leghorn eggs in the incubator - I'm no crazy chicken lady! Honest!!!

you need to get collecting. that is a poor collection of birds. 11 purebreeds is barely enough to enter the realm of byc

joking aside, i like the crew. Is the warren a former factory worker?

I haven't incubated in nearly 2 months, but I did candle some eggs yesterday. My fantail pigeons decided to nest (again) and I had very little hope because their eggs have always been infertile. But this time, 2 of the 4 eggs are developing! I'm so excited for squabs!

Here are the parents:

omygoodness their heads are on their butts>>>???? how do they eat! very pretty colors aren't they! love that blue!
