I have never had actual day old chicks - the ones I first picked up as "Day old" turned out to be 2 1/2 weeks old. So I don't know how tiny they really will be. Will this feeder that I got be too big or high or??? for them?

this is the same type of feeder i use. for bantams and quail i will sink it just a little in the bedding for the first week. my biggest complaint on it is the hinge area is somewhat hard to clean. i usually let mine soak for an hour to loosen any manure, then scrub.

scooter, you need a sharp siscors papertowl and white grocery bag.  roll the chick gently in the paper towel in the open bag, roll in p towel so you cant see the chick, feel for the neck and cut it quickly wrap up the bag and either chuck or bury.  Its the FASTEST less stressed way. There is no good about doing it, just go at it know you don't want to but its best and get it done and overwith.

Another question... I bought the electrolytes and probiotics and it says to mix both into a gallon of water - then it says to also provide plain water... UGH! I bought a guinea pig type nipple waterer, but only one. I am using nipple waterers outside and I want them to learn how to use one from the beginning. Do I need to go get another one for plain water ??
