I have never had actual day old chicks - the ones I first picked up as "Day old" turned out to be 2 1/2 weeks old. So I don't know how tiny they really will be. Will this feeder that I got be too big or high or??? for them?

this is the same type of feeder i use. for bantams and quail i will sink it just a little in the bedding for the first week. my biggest complaint on it is the hinge area is somewhat hard to clean. i usually let mine soak for an hour to loosen any manure, then scrub.
X2scooter, you need a sharp siscors papertowl and white grocery bag. roll the chick gently in the paper towel in the open bag, roll in p towel so you cant see the chick, feel for the neck and cut it quickly wrap up the bag and either chuck or bury. Its the FASTEST less stressed way. There is no good about doing it, just go at it know you don't want to but its best and get it done and overwith.
Quote: Wow. None of the ones I threw in the house died. I cant believe it. They were so close to death. I did pile them on top of each other to generate heat. It must of worked. All I had was fluffy dry chicks.
Quote: I throw them out into the rain.
with your chicks?I throw them out into the rain.
