I don't think I shared this yet, if so forgive my old brain, LOL! Please meet my new Huastec and Colloncas - of the 40 eggs shipped to me in 2 different shipments, they are the only ones to survive. I really want to breed them and this isn't going to help *sigh* but I am so grateful to have them. Both had to be 100% assisted - no surprise I guess considering every other egg was scrambled or cracked that came with them.
And these are the Paul Smith Lavender Ameraucanas I just purchased recently - Isabeau and Navarre. It was crazy windy, LOL!
And in the meantime I have had all 100% hatches on each batch of my Marans and White leghorn mixes - going for Big Blue Egg Layers and Olive Eggers. No assists, nothing. So glad to know at least the new bator/hatcher setup is soundI also have 6 eggs in now that are Crested Cream Legbar over Golden Laced Wyandotte just for fun.![]()
I don't know - I wish I could find a breeder closer :/Congrats! Pity you only got the 2, but heck, the odds were ever so lightly against you there! I'm just glad you got something out of that disaster. Are you going to give them another go and try to get some breeding pairs?
Those Ameraucanas are gorgeous! I love that colour in chickens.
That is wonderful!

Did you place a "wanted" ad in the BST section yet?
Nice looking bird Chicksooner..I am so envious. On another note I have been pondering my disaster hatching of shipped eggs from this past summer. If having the rounded end up for the air cell is so important, why would eggs be shipped USPS laying on their sides, not upright?? Don't they have a better chance of the air cell staying where is is meant to be if eggs are upright. Please correct me if my thinking is off. Lynn Marie
I hadn't, but I just did in the chick section. If I could avoid eggs all together that would be even better, LOL!Did you place a "wanted" ad in the BST section yet?
