So my broody was hiding something. I haven't checked her eggs in a while but she had an extra chick with the one I gave her yesterday. I guess she managed to keep one going.
I think the cold has killed most of the eggs. I am having horrible luck with fertility even with trimmed up butt fluff. Hoping warm temps will improve it and that I get something hatched out before everyone goes broody.
Sally I pulled that article up and will read it later.
I went ahead and tossed my two questionable eggs today. I opened them up and they were definitely blood rings. One had died around day two because there was a tiny blob where the chick would have formed. The other was around day five it's interesting to me that even after they begin developing they will die.
Today I did a hands off candling and two more of the local eggs appear to have quit. So I took those out to candle and get a closer look sure enough I see no veining or development. I left them but took note and will check again tomorrow.
On a positive note the 5 remaining shipped eggs look great! Awesome veins and saw little black dots/blobs swimming around. It was a quick candling because I just wanted to peek and see how they were progressing since three of the local eggs have quit on me.
