I am going to be spending a small fortune for the eggs so might be worth the extra protection. All mine have come double boxed with bubble wrap etc. Are the foam inserts that much better? Where is Oz to chime in...

I only ever got eggs in the foam once, there were four broken, my worst shipped eggs ever. Most dont pack them in foam that have perfect size openings, so its a big issue, they either crush them or they roll out!! so I prefer bubble wrap leaving and end open for breathing, and in newspapers or foam on the bottom, and then double box and supporting the box with either empty plastic egg cartons and/or newspaper. if you can keep in a 12" box or under for the outer box you are good as far as shipping costs.

If you sell more than a dozen I highly suggest charging actually shipping costs, example, a heavy heavy box and over 12" is charged about 39.00 from PA to CA..... so be cautious when selling two dozen as far as pricing.

I'm not shipping. I am buying. I am starting to think the drive to Texas might be worth it to ensure that my eggs get to me in a hatchable state. She was only wanting to sell chicks and her discounted rate for me was $25 per chick. Not exactly an affordable start to a flock but compared to what they have sold for in the past it is pretty cheap. I am debating with myself here...
