Are SFH small breed? I have issues with silky and polish, sometimes serama loose air cells

Swedish Flower Hens are what I would consider a normal or average size breed.

I forgot to mention that what I paid for shipping for the chick boxed eggs was the same amount that I would have paid for a priority express mail box of the same dimensions. I am sure the chick box cost the shipper more than the free priority mail boxes but I am also sure that this hatchery buys their chick boxes in bulk.

I finally uploaded to you tube. of course the baby wakes up the minute I had the eggs out to candle and started getting fussy, I hate rushing candles but kids screaming makes me worse! lol

Oh Oz, how I've missed being contradicted (or is that contraindicated) by you. Its so refreshing. Just kidding.

I have to stand by my use of u100's, chickie skin is so delicate, I like a more delicate needle. You're only injecting under the skin, you don't need to jam it in there, the U100's slide right in there like the skin isn't even there and there is little to no bruising.

I can definitely say that the diluent says on the bottle to store at room temp (as long as its below 80F), but the vaccine needs to be refrigerated until a little bit before use.

I make up my vaccine, load up all of my u100's and then either move the chicks from one box to another or use bands to indicate who's been done, but the box thing goes faster. I have to disagree with reusing needles. They dull so quickly, you cause more pain as each one is done.

The vet I used to work for would have us draw up a vaccine with one needle and then toss that needle so that she could administer the vac with a fresh, sharp needle. That's how quickly they dull. I will reuse them once, but I definitely alcohol the needle before reusing it. U100's are so cheap, its worth it to get as many as you need and only use them once.

given that mareks vaccine only lasts 1 hr once the dilutent is added, drawing up hundreds of insulin syringes is not practical imho.

the 25ga needle does not blunt in 15 uses whereas the diabetic syringe needle is much more fragile.

The worry about needle size and the delicate chick will be overcome when you pull out the fowl pox administration needle

Question @ozexpat what do you suggest to dip or spray eggs in for bacteria killin?

i fumigate with ptassium permanganate and formaldehyde

dipping in bleach solution would be second choice or for sanding

Early day 19 silky duck
Watch this candle vid of the day 19 eggs.... I have never seen this on any candle of any breeds, note the blood spots that float and deterioration of veins on one side of the egg and note the duckling is still moving in there and the other side looks fine and veins are good! only one egg like this, very very odd to me! I think its dying!

I just had one of these. It was too wet and even though it was moving, it died. I even took the top of the egg off down to the air cell and used a surfactant in low low humidity hatcher to try to dry it out, but it just plain drowned.

Whatever works for you. Allah loves wonderous variety (Morgan Freeman- Robin Hood). I don't do hundreds at a time, but I trust you.

Is it crossed swords we always have, or crossed shields? Oh, the humanity!

What is a fowl pox administration needle and why will it overcome me? Is it huge? Is it scary? What gauge is it? We haven't had much fowl pox in this area but I've seen pictures of it and it isn't cool.

Which vaccines do you give?
