I've only ever hatched my own X breeds, so I can't answer your Q, but my MIL has a little bantam chick that one of her hens hatched out a few weeks ago and I couldn't get over how tiny that little thing is! It was absolutely minute!! Even now that it's feathered out a bit it's only the size of my hen's newborns.

Screaming MADDDDDD!!! SOOO Question is did MyPet CHICKEN send me WHITE SILKIES???????? UGGGGGGGG Never NEVER AGAIN!! do they not care what they sell????????????????

DID I mention I GIVE THE F7778 UP?????????? THEY will be getting an EAR FUll today!!!! Really?? WHAT ELSE could have gone wrong!!!!!!!!!! ugggggggg Whoda THUNK!!!

That's a really cute fluffy butt you got there and a little miracle, considering everything. You live and learn, hey? I think after this no-one's going to order from MyPetChicken again

Sorry, I know it's not funny, but after all that... Look I'm no Silkie expert. Maybe the little guy hasn't shown his true colours yet.

Totally not an expert AT ALL, but I wonder 2 things:

1. If it might be easier to tell color after he's all fluffed out
2. If the eggs were sold as blue/black/splash

Because maybe he's a very light splash? He looks a bit mottled to me in this pic.

Just thoughts, because I have no knowledge or experience with this issue.

Puppies are great, I was up most of the night watching this lil guy hatch so I STILL didnt catch up on the lost 48 hrs from puppies ordeals. But I plan on taking a nap.
I specifically ordered 6 BLUE and 6 RED (not buff or splash!!) I even talked to her on the phone about colors!!! I think he is white and way way small...

So cute! He is a miracle considering everything. It took mine a while to get fully fluffed and I completely paniced about their color. I wanted Black Orpingtons and these hatched out with lots of white. I have been reassured looking at others pics that my chicks are black orps and the white fluff will be replaced with black feathers when they come in. Still not sure how convinced I am since a couple have white wing feathers.

Since he is so tiny you might want to keep him from the other chicks until he is steady on his feet. Just my thoughts that. Once he starts eating and fills out he will get big quick.

Oh and your fan sounds horrible. You knew that already though.

From what I understand (could be wrong) there is no telling if a chick will be blue, black, or splash until it hatches. I.e. the genetics will produce all three, but you can't tell what any particular egg will contain, color-wise. So "Blue Silkie" eggs should have a notation that the eggs cannot be guaranteed blue, but will be any of blue, black, or splash.

I think they also sell the already-hatched chicks that way: order blue chicks, get blue, black, and/or splash.
