Hi Halo, I love the name! he he heHey guys, I have a question. If an egg has it's air cell slip a few days before hatching, is there any chance of saving the chick? I candeled one of our eggs tonight and saw that the air cell had gone entierly to one side, and I couldn't see any movement, and since the chick was already overdue to hatch (all other fertile eggs were out by that point) I was pretty sure the chick was dead, but now I'm not so sure.
The chick would most likely drown in that situation, right? I couldn't imagine how it could enter the air cell side-on and pip ):
Hi Halo, I love the name! he he he
the air cell acutally moved this late? have u seen it move? when did you last have a good cell and moving chick?
if she is alive perhaps if you keep the air cell upright it may, but I am not sure what u got, did u take pic of candle? how overdue and have you dont the float test on it? the following and more is in a summary of this thread in article https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-101 towards the bottom.... and if !u need to help it hatch in a malpositioned chick is on that article as well... just in case u need it!

No, I couldn't see an internal pip. It must have moved a few days ago- I candeled them about a week ago and it was fine! It was about 2-3 days overdue now. I didn't see any movement in the egg at all though, but after looking through that guide I'm kicking myself...I was so sure it had drowned, but there was no internal pip!Oh and you see no internal PIP in that air cell?
