Did I ever show you this Splash Orp Hen

She's beautiful, Julie. I hatched out my first Splash from Tuffoldhen last week. Before that it was all blues and blacks. I'm excited about the Splash. Hope mine turns out half as nice as this hen.

Julie, she is lovely! You know I have a soft spot for Blue Boy since he's Suede's daddy. Suede is just so special, such a calm, sweet boy, so like his daddy. He's doing well in the fertility dept, though he's quite a tank of a boy. I'll have to keep any eye out for any fertility issues with him.

When I last had him over some hens I only got a few fertile eggs out of two doz. I just need more than that. He is a permanent fixture though. DH loves that chicken. I wanted to move him to a smaller pen and use his large one for a bigger flock and DH says noooooo He couldn't take being penned like that. He has free run of the yard all day.

Wow, she is a very lovely hen. Will you be mating her with Charlie?

I will put her in with Charlie as soon as she starts up laying again. She will be 3 years old in June so she doesn't lay as good as she did the first two years. She may be laying under our work house since she freeranges with Blue boy all day and goes in their pen at nite. I am going to make some new arrangements in the next week or so. I have a offspring of hers that is larger than her in the pen with Charlie for now.
