Did I get some Cornish X in my assortment?

The coop is almost done, I swear!! And they are just over 5 weeks old! I didn't think they should go out for another week or two as there is no electricity to the coop. (That would be why this is the pseudocoop. It's actually 7' long, but it's hard to tell in the pics.)

There are a couple of darker ones as big as the whites. But these guys are pretty active.

I bet they're all roos, too - right? (pleasesayyespleasesayyes)

How many weeks old are they now? 6 weeks or so?

If so I'm doubting they are x's now.

Here are pics of mine over time this last spring. Day temps were in the mid 40's and nights in the mid 30's. Except for the week of freezing weather and freak snow... They had two 100W bulbs on at night and one on during the day for the first few weeks and were let out to range around 2 weeks old.

2.5 weeks

3.5 weeks

4.5 weeks. They are a mess because it was in April and we got a freak 8 inches of snow overnight that had melted all the next day.

And at 5.5 weeks. The small white ones on the left hand side are white leghorn roosters a week or two older. For reference size, they are in a 4x8 tractor and that's a one gallon fount in the back.

Edit: Duh, I saw you said they were just over 5 weeks old!

And I'd say they are all roos, along with one black one in the back and that buff in the front with doubt in being the cornish x's. But still could be if they are 7-10lbs in the next two to three weeks.

Hi Im new here, but i just have a quick question about the chicks , mind you I have no Idea but, what do the white Jersey Giants look like? Is that even a possibility here? Because one poster said that some of her other chicks were catching up in size. Hmmm. I wish i were knowledgable about chicks. I have ordered my chicks from MM hatchery to be delivered in Febuary of 09. Kinda wondering now if I did the right thing?
Thanks Stormylady

Not familar with the Jersey Giant breed. But non meat bird types, that grow to be "heavy" bids, often take 18 months or more to get their big heavy statures, while meat birds will be 8-10 lbs in just about two months.

As for if your order is right. If you ordered Jersey Giants, the hatcheries hatch differen types in different areas and box label them. So if you specifically ordered Giants, you should get giants.

Hi, I went back and looked up pics. of White Jersey Giant chicks and they don't look like those chicks. It just made sense to me that big white chicks would turn out large white chickens. lol shows what I know. Any way live and learn! lol. thanks stormylady
