Did I inadvertently sentence my chicks to drown?!

After practically giving up all hope, I woke at 2am to the sweet sounds of peeping coming from the eggs! Against the odds and their new chicken mama's stupidity, two of the eggs have pipped! All is not a total loss! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the hatch goes successfully. It would be such a shame for them to have gone through all that and then not cross the finish line. Wish me and the babies lots of good luck for happy hatching!!!

PS. Are we all this nuts about our chickens, or is it just me?!

Yay!! Go chicks! I hope the hatching is a good experience for you and theat you get some chicks to enjoy watching the hatch and them gow.

I know what you mean about DH's. We're on lockdown with our second incubation- ours are due tomorrow. I was adding water and a cloth to try to get the humidity up and to remove the egg turner when I saw the egg turner was unplugged!! DH had been ill and sore and placed a chair heating pad and massager on a nearby chair and unplugged the egg turner in order to plug it in- and then hadn't remembered!! So for several days now the eggs haven't been turned. He is being very noncholant about it- "they'll be OK" . Well, we HOPE, but.......

The blessing is that at least he hadn't unplugged the incubator instead- that was the other electric cord in the outlet.

Keep us posted. What kind of chicks are you hatching?

It's been hard for me to peel my eyes away from the bator! All the eggs were mine except for four. The two eggs that have pipped are Silkie and either BLRW or BLRWxLight Brahma. I also have EExBLRW and the four Booted Bantam (which were shipped). I'd really hoped for the Booted Bantam to hatch, still holding out hope for them:) I'm just thankful that life persists in spite of the obstacles presented! Keep your fingers crossed for us!
