Did u know that PAM cooking spray kills ants?

Not true anymore. The cancer rate in the US is skyrocketing every year.

I think more cases are found due to better methods in earlier detection. I'm not arguing that cancer isn't on the increase. Survival rates are also on the increase (most types) due to that earlier detection and better treatments.

Have you wondered why the cancer rate it going up in the U.S.? My sister was diagnosed with lymphoma a year and a half ago at age 37 and it seems that every where we turn there are friends or people that we know that are being diagnosed with cancer of some sort. Ever since my sisters diagnosis, our family has been reading a lot about cancer causing products. I have come to the conclusion that it is just the way our food is made now. All of the preservatives are not a good thing. If my kids want cookies now, I bake them from scratch. I will not buy snacks from the store anymore. We make them! No more canned vegetables either! Only fresh or frozen. Did you know that deli meat is horrible for you?!?! The list goes on and on! Very scary!

I have started doing the same thing. Most of our stuff I now make from scratch. Did you know that they now offer "all natural" turkey and ham deli meats?, no addatives or preservatives.

We avoid sodium nitrate like the plague. It's funny though, old timey recipes for cured meat always call for sodium nitrate, saltpeter.

Honestly, if a giant took a can of oil suspended in a propellant and sprayed you down, you would probably die too. The second your lungs filled with it you would be a gonner. That doesn't make me think PAM is bad. It DOES give me another safe way to get rid of the ant problem in my kitchen.

All kidding aside, what luvmychicknkids said has truth to it. While ants don't have lungs, they DO breath through their exoskeleton(outer shell) and it would make sense that if you sprayed them with Pam, it would clog up their "outlets" to breath. So I don't think Pam is toxic to eat, you just don't want to huff the stuff.

Oh I agree with that too! The whole thing just got me going on the cancer rant! Sorry! American's food is just getting scary.

Yeah, I know what you mean...my friend has introduced me to "organic" foods but sometimes I can't always do that...then I worry about the non-organic stuff I am eating! Just a vicious cycle for a worry wart like myself...not to mention a little OCD, too.

Using oils against insects is an old, old remedy.

LINK

Unlike their chemical counterparts, using soaps and oils doesn't increase pesticide resistance because their mode of action is mechanical, not chemical. Oils smother insects and their eggs. Soaps disrupt their membranes. Oils have several other benefits including their protective effects against viral diseases and several types of fungus.

You would usually apply "dormant oil spray" to plants while they were still in bud, before they leafed out to control scale, for example (because the oil could clog plant pores, too.)

Yeah...but it is funny that with all those chemicals we are living longer healthier lives than when everything was "all-natural"...

I think that vaccines and the invention of anitbiotics has a lot to do with our longer life span. In the 1800's it was considered revolutionary when one Dr.(can't remember his name) announced that women's death from labor could be cut down by the Dr. simply washing his hands!

All natual is the way to go.

As time goes on more and more preservatives(sp) and chemicals are bad for us.

Best to stay away from processed foods.

Takes more time to make but worth in in the long run.

That is why is have my chickies now- No antibiotics or bad things- they are happy chickens that get to run around and eat lots and lots of bugs and grass and be happy girls.
