Shipped eggs on Saturday, like we have done many times.

This time we got them back, as "there are no flights for hatching eggs until 5/4"

Talked with 3 very nice postal employees, who tried to tell me everything they knew, however they were unable to answer the question "Can I still ship eggs on Saturday, or has there been a regulation change?"

So far, 3 phone calls, a face to face, and no answer................

So, let's review,

We can ship on Monday thru Wednesday and have a reasonable shot at eggs being delivered in a timely manner.

Thurs out

Friday out

Saturday??

Usually Saturday equals a Monday delivery, now, who knows??????

I have been told I need to speak with "Mailing Requirements" who does not answer the phone.

Maybe I need to write them???

So, Raven1, your eggs did ship, and will ship again Wednesday.

some must have been mixed up that day. it just doesn't sound right. I did have some eggs lost in the mail for 10 days and they said no refunds on late priority shipments- just my luck.

Ugh. That stinks.

I have always had good luck (knock on wood!) shipping on Saturday. They almost always get there Monday.

Sorry, that sounds so frustrating.

I found out the other day that Priority is NOT guaranteed, therefore if it takes more than the standard 2-3 days to get there, too bad.
I sent a MO Priority for eggs to someone. It took 5 business days to arrive.
The person, sent the eggs to me on good faith, on the same day I sent the MO. I got the eggs in 2 days.

I agree - I write "fragile" on the box but don't tell them it's eggs. When I have, the boxes arrive all beat up with broken eggs. When I just write "fragile", the eggs and the box arrive intact and within 2-3 days. I only send M-W though. I received eggs a couple months ago. They were marked "live animals" and they actually delivered them on a Sunday morning. I was shocked but wouldn't do that myself.

Well,

As far as telling them goes............

We like to be up front with everyone, even the Post Office.

Actually, they have been very good to us and our shipping from our PO, asked very nicely that we ship in the plastic flat mail carton so that they will be hand processed from here to there, wherever there is.

We have had reports of the shipment making the trek cross country, still in the plastic carton, and other reports where they have parted ways somewhere along the way.

We have had some really good reports on hatchability, some good, some so so, and only two poor reports after shipping many dozens. So, we will stick to it until it doesn't work.

The frustration factor on a complete lack of information is really up there though, how could so many people know so little?

I did learn several times today that first class postage is going up! Cool info if it was the answer to my quesiton.

But since it had nothing to do with what I wanted to find out, I thought it a bit odd, kind of like........

Would you like soup or salad with that?

I'll take the standard oil change, thank you.
