Well, they are both still alive this morning. That little gal sure is spunky!!! I sure hope she makes it because she's a real trooper. She wants out and to be with the other chicks..... she keeps trying to jump out
She's got the other one to keep her company, but I think she wants to explore. Both look like they've dried up nicely, but I am going to wait a bit longer before letting them into the shavings, etc.
Keep your fingers crossed for them! I know I am!!!
A Blue one hatched while I slept.... happy and healthy!
I had a chick hatch with intestines coming out, one of the other chicks must have pulled on the navel, I applied benadine and massaged it back in w/a Q-Tip. It lived and developed fine until I lost her after a year, from the heat.
Fantastic! I'm with the others...don't do anything for at least 24 hours except keep them warm and dry. I put a little corral in my brooder to keep the newest chicks in until they fluff up and are getting around well. Then I put them with the other chicks and put a couple more in the corral. That way the older chicks (ha! what, a few hours??) can't bother them until everything is well dried and they can get away or defend themselves! Here is the link:
