DYK that my mother once said, "stick your finger in the dike!" She said it was a saying she grew up hearing. Her seven children made sure she didn't say it again.

I remember that saying. I think in the last 30 years it has become non-PC to say that.

When I was 10, someone pulled me down and rolled over my arm with a pair of roller skates, broke my wrist in two places. I had terrible nightmares that it was ice skates and that it sliced my hand off. I didn't say it was a "rational" fear.

I have a scar on my wrist from a pair of ice skates going across it about 50 years ago. I remember it bled like crazy.

I thought ficus were houseplants! They are real trees?

They're a different type of ficus. The potted ones seem dainty & fragile, but the actual trees are massive & grow like weeds. I'm not kidding, some of the branches are as thick as a person. I'll go out & get a picture of it before the arborist trims it down.

Being older than dirt, When I saw this it reminded me of the tree that grows near the King Kamamahaa (spelling is .way off I know) hotel in Kona, Hi. I could not think of the name of the tree, but it has now come to me. A Banyan tree.
