That's a Canadian spelling of DIKE. They like using the Y instead of I 's a lot. They have Dykes and not Dams on their rivers, Of course, they are frozen 11 months of the year and are called Glacyers up there.

That's a Canadian spelling of DIKE.  They like using the Y instead of I 's a lot.      They have Dykes and not Dams on their rivers, Of course, they are frozen 11 months of the year and are called Glacyers  up there.

They're thawed MUCH more than one month per year.
