Did you know..... Chat Thread! W/ Hosts: DwayneNLiz, kwhites634, BantyChooks, MotorcycleChick, C

IKR?! I want a pair, but $100 even for hatchery stock birds just ain't worth it. So I guess I'll just keep on dreaming
I haven't found any one who has those fluffy feathered geese tho, but metzer farm....

Did you know if you found me another breeder, I'd try to hatch eggs? LOL

Lol!!!!!! So cute. Did you know when Brandon was 6 he would cry cause he thought everytime I was cooking eggs I was killing a chick... Poor baby.
awww poor guy. We explained how the eggs don't become a baby until they hit a certain temp and start developing. One nice thing about hatching in an incubator and candling daily, is she understands how the eggs started, and then became chickens.

It makes her not feel guilty when she eats eggs. We also explained that our cochin's probably too short to get our RIR fertile. He's just to short to get the job done.

Do you know that I sometimes wonder if I'll ever have to explain reproduction to my younger kids, now that we live on a farm? I hope and assume they are bright enough to figure most of it out because of animals and save me from having to go into detail. :hmm And if all else fails.. "It's not the stork."

If I got a pair, since they are bordering on extinction, I would breed them to try to keep more alive. I was reading up on them being endangered.

Did you know, that I wondered and actually looked to see what it would take to get them off the endangered list?

:gig Oh this cracked me up. For now, just tell the kids they're playing leap frog.

Did you know that guinea eggs are quite delicious?

Funny story, I have infertility issues (PCOS) and we were going through YEARS of infertility issues for my second, including getting ready for IVF. Did you know when my son was 4, he told my grandma "mom is a female-dog- in heat and going to have puppies." (except, he used the correct language for a female dog, the B word.)

My grandma has never let me live that one down. She still jokes about me being a female dog.

I've had 5 total. 4 living. One died at 3 weeks old. I had twins, and it's a long story but 1 died I have 2 of each gender living. I'm 31. I've been married over 10 years. I had my first at 18 after being told i'd never have kids. took me almost 7 years to have my 2nd, 2 1/2years for my twins, and got lucky and had my 2nd girl before my surviving twins 2nd birthday. What makes her so cool is my husband delivered her, we didn't make it to the hospital! (I had a homebirth with my first daughter, too.)

Did you know, I'd love a few more, via old fashioned method, or adoption! I've always felt compelled to adopt, I just needed to get to the right place in my life. My chickens fulfil those .. mothering urges in me!
