Kinda sorta probably.

I will tell you a secret: my DH or my dad kill all the birds for me. I'll pluck and gut them, but I cannot bring myself to end them. when I have chicks that need culling, I have called my dad to come over and take care of it as I cried in the next room. Does that make me a bad breeder?

No. Did you know that I was killing and plucking before I learned to gut?
Did you know that I have been eating banana muffin batter?

I couldn't wait the 20 minutes for the muffins to be done. Now Duckling can eat the muffins while playing in the leaves tomorrow.

If I were not set on another, I might. My father was raised with white German Shepherds. So was I. For all the dogs that have passed through the homes of us seven children, none were GSD. The breeder (I believe it's the same) has been located... And lost. But I will be going through them if I get another dog.

Oh, I'm sure!!

It's a mental block... Stoopid, I know.... But I feel bad if I have the neighbours shoot skunks that were trying to get into my coop, much less actually picking up a bird and killing it....

I'm okay with already dead things but I've got a mental block over killing something with my own hands.... Like I'm betraying them somehow. I will get over it eventually. Just gotta cowgirl up & tell myself the chook ends up dead whether I do it myself or buy it at the store....

I had to put down a chick once... It was.... Not something I like to think about.

I can eat things that I didn't kill... but I have a mental block too - I know I'll get nightmares. Taking a life isn't something I can do easily. Including with a bird I've raised.
I had my neighbor give me goat meats from our boy goats that they butchered for us. I traded 90% of the meat for babies to bottlefeed. But they gave us some so we could try it.
it's when I discovered I liked goat... especially croc-pot meals!
