The thermostat is less than 6 inches from the bulb, and it now appears the one bulb will do the trick. The 'bator has been holding steady temps at 100 degrees F for nearly 18 hours, and I think I have the humidity dialed in too - had to change the size of the water container, though. Pretty sure it's ready to go!

Thanks, wolftracks!
I'm debating whether to keep my bator test eggs in during the whole shebang, too... will know more when it's time to candle them, of course, which will be the 12th or 13th.
That means I'll have to decide whether to whip up another bator or run two hatches simultaneously. Hmmm, decisions, decisions...

May give me troubles with the humidity differences if I have them sharing the same bator, but I really want to see if these eggs are going to develop, too. *sigh*

Unfortunately, I'm not sure DH would part with any more coolers.. so another incubator build will have to wait till I spot a likely victim like a cooler, or old dorm refrigerator, etc., on craigslist or freecycle.

Go to Petsmart or Petco and ask for the one's they get there fish in. Some grocery stores get them when fish is delivered to the meat department. Think FREE woman!!! LOL
