Does that mean he has the blue gene that carries on to his offspring. I want to breed a blue gene to a dark brown egg layer to try for some Olive Eggers.
 
No way to know if he carries the blue egg gene, unless you saw the egg he hatched from, or you test mate.

Usually EEs have only one blue egg gene, not two. That means about 50% of offspring will carry a blue egg gene (amd if female lay blue eggs).
 
I've heard the blue egg gene and the pea comb gene are very close. Sometimes you can guess if a roo carries it or not by the comb. My EE roo was a hatchery EE from TSC last year. So I'm assuming he probably doesn't have the blue egg gene. I do have a blue Ameraucana roo now that should have the blue egg gene. I'm putting my blue egg laying EE ladies with him to hopefully raise some blue egg laying EEs. Our poor EE roo will just have to make do with our laying hen girls. Lol.
