Differences EE, Ameraucana, & Araucana * Pls post pics*

He's a very pretty boy. He looks rumpless. Is he part araucana?
I'm not sure what he is. DH brought him home and couldn't remember what the breeder told him. He was very sick when we got him. Wouldn't eat or walk, just lay there. I sat up with him for 2 nights dropper feeding him sugar water and crumbles dissolved in water till he perked up. He loves my LH mix, Dottie. She was a lone hatch and the two are inseperable. He used to make a very loud Cricket noise. (Hence the name) but now he honks like a tiny goose. Especially when he loses sight of Dottie. He is rumpless, so there must be some araucana in there somewhere, but his coloring is wierd. And he's so tiny so maybe he's a bantam?

He has the sweetest face.

That's a cool looking rooster

Wouldn't swear to it but he looks like a Golden Duckwing Araucana.

Looks as if he has one or two errant tail feathers there.
Yeah he does, and his tufts are so tiny that they might as well not exist. I also think he looks like an Araucana. But everyone says EE. He doesn't have beard or muffs. I really don't care what he is, he's so adorable. I would, however like to go to the breeder that DH got him from and see if I could get him a mate. DH said breeder told him Cricket was not a bantam...sure looks like a bantam to me...unless he gets a growth spurt.
The rest of my chickens are either BOs, red sex link and LH.

Interesting. I read the first explanatory post. I've always called my EE's Americanas, that way they don't get confused with the Ameraucanas. So anyway, if you see my spelling, it's not a mis-spelling, it's a distinction.

I've yet to have blue eggs from them. Pastel green, olive green, brown and cream. Can't find Araucanas anymore so I'm trying for Cream Legbars to get the blue eggs.

I think I have gotten myself confused between the Ameraucana and Araucana chickens and I need some help straightening myself out.

Does the Araucana come in the Wheaten color or is that only the Ameraucana?

What are the standard and recognized colors of each breed?

What is this about a virus that causes their eggs to be the color the are?

I am looking to invest in keeping four different heritage breeds. I am debating between these two breeds because I also want chickens that lay blue, white, light brown and dark brown eggs.

I know that I do not want an Easter Egger and that finding a quality supplier is the only way that I can ensure that I am getting the real deal.

Here is a link to Araucana. They come in BBR wheaten in the Large Fowl along with several other Standard of Perfection recognized colors.
