Differences EE, Ameraucana, & Araucana * Pls post pics*

His legs look green to me in the older picture. They should be a true grey. The teenage picture is very telling because he looks nothing like an ameraucana in it. Coloring is all wrong. He may or may not carry the blue egg gene. You find out by breeding him to those leghorns. If the offspring all lay blue he has two copies. If half do he has one copy. You could get green instead of blue if he carries brown as well.

His legs were very green a few months ago. Now they are grey/blue and look like the other two am's legs. He has some pale flesh coloring on the bottom of his feet. So his coloring is not true to a wheaten am?

No he looks to be a mix. That color pattern is dominate in males. All my ee boys have had it or the silver version of it.

Still have this pullet. Or atleast I think she's a pullet. She makes the most awful racket if you pick her up and I am not too sure she's laying. 6 months old. Everything about her says "pullet" though.




Loved this handsome man, but rehomed him. Crowed loudly and often. A lady working at TSC wanted him for her Easter egger ladies.. I should ask how he's doing when I see her, he's a year old now. My broody hatched him last year from eggs received from a fellow BYCer.

I'm eagerly awaiting my newest babies.. A fellow BYCer is hatching me some blue eggs, coming from good stock sires, not separated during the winter, so "purebred mutts" so to speak

a Marans and an Ameraucana over Easter egger hens. I do enjoy a good mutt. End result should be blue, olive and brown egg layers. Very excited.

In time I hope to get to an area I can invest time and energy into these lovely birds. Being in a subdivision (even in Alabama) limits what one can do without making the neighbors mad

Definitely check the site.. so many cant tell blue from green and they believe they have bluish green, there is definitely a difference. And the EE is a great bird, but its a Mutt and probably will never be recognized in Shows and doesn't fully meet any breed description as defined in the American Poultry Association's (APA) standards. here's my Roo and hen

You should post her in the ameraucana thread to get some feedback. There are a lot of wheaten breeders and they should be able to help.

They both look very nice, it's hard to tell but the hens legs look bluish. If they're a skate grey then that's good. I'm not very knowledgeable with Am's but these look much better than many birds that people claim to be Am's. I hope you do well showing them

That beard is awesome...tho I don't know if it is 'correct'.
