Hi i have some 7 week old chicks that were vaccinated when shiped and i have a white breasted turkey about the same age was feed medicated feed all in same area i also have 10 day old chicks with mother hen being feed medicated feed in another area my question is can i feed them all the same medicated feed i heard your not supposed to feed chicks that have been vaccinated medicated feed but its okay to give it to the hen so im supper confused on that aspect i would like to feed all the same feed if possible my older chicks are going to be used as layer hens since i have all girls except one boy if that makes a difference....i really dont want to have to buy grower since i know you can feed starter untill they are of laying age but what do you guys think??? Should i just buy grower and not give them the starter anymore ???

Generally you switch to grower at 8 weeks, so 7 weeks is pretty close to that.

The thought behind feeding grower when they are "teenagers" is that with the protein being a bit less, they hopefully won't mature too quickly with their reproductive tract, which can cause problems I have read.

Thank you i figured i should switch to grower but i heard you could stay starter untill laying....also why is it okay for the hen to eat medicated feed but not a chick that has been vacinated
