Yesterday one of my hens got ill, eggbound with a broken egg. We isolated her and later that night I collected all the eggs. I only have two other hens, and both are Barred rocks. Since I collected the eggs yesterday there is no chance that any of my isolated hens eggs are in there, she is a speckled Sussex. I’ve been getting speckled eggs for a while along with regular light browns. I figured the light browns belonged to my Barred rocks and the Speckled belong to my speckled Sussex. But I collected the eggs today and found one light brown and one speckled. I thought it was strange that the same breed lay very different eggs, one was regular light brown, the other was a darker light brown with dark brown speckles. Is this a normal thing? Here’s a picture
