Last night I was quite concerned about my BA. She was sitting away from the flock for quite awhile. I went and picked her up and put her in the coop - this is normally a bird that RUNS from me. She sat in the nest box for a bit but seemed completely out of it - eyes dilated, breathing slow, head resting on the box divider, comb completely flopped over to the side. Offer BOSS, water, yogurt but she had none. The other hens came in to roost and she went to her spot.
This morning she was out and about, scurring and raising a ruckus like normal. I found a broken egg under her roost spot - weak shell. This would be her first egg. Can it be tough for some hens to lay their first egg(s)? She's in the nest box right now and I'm leaving her alone.
