Hey R2elk,
Just out curiosity what do you think that pumpkin weighs right now? I know it’s not much, I was thinking 15 pounds.
Mark
My guess is over 40 lbs. by now and well on its way to bigger. 95°F out there right now and pouring the water to it. I have had 80 lb. Big Moose that were not much bigger than what this one is right now.

Out of curiousity, I just tried to lift the pumpkin. I was not able to lift it. I am guesstimating that it is at least 80 lbs.

Yesterday's numbers were 17" length and 16.5" diameter.
That equals 2,423 cu. in.

Today's numbers are 18.5" length and 17" diameter for 2,799 cu. in.

It increased in volume by 376 cu. in. for a 15.5% increase from yesterday.

There are 231 cu. in. in a gallon so it grew in volume by 1.6 gallons. If that was a water only gain, it would be an increase of 13.5 lbs.

At 2,799 cu. in. based on an equal volume of water the weight would be 101 lbs.

Ellipsoid volume calculator.

In order to get more accurate measurements I took a 4' level and 2' square with me. The more accurate dimensions are 19" long, 18 1/2" wide and 15" tall for 2,761 cu. in.

Based on a specific gravity of 1.0 the weight would be approximately 96 lb. Mature pumpkins are relatively hollow and are said to have a specific gravity of 0.77. I don't believe this one is mature yet as it is still growing. Based on a specific gravity of 0.77 the weight would be 74 lbs.

Jealous of that clean looking foliage.
That just does not happen here. They are getting really big too.

Grew some pie pumpkins this year and harvested yesterday. Only a couple plants. I got 14 small pumpkins!

In addition to the Giant, I also have pie pumpkins, Big Doris, Big Moose and Mellow Yellow planted. In a normal year I would already have Big Moose approaching 100 lbs. and pie pumpkins turning orange. As cool and wet as it has been this year everything seems to be about one month behind their normal development. I do have artichokes ready to pick though.
