I can be so stupid sometimes. I thought it would not reach the sub structure. Thank you.

There ain't nothing stupid about posing a question or thought...and whether the DE is still viable at earthworm depth is questionable, but there's a lot more good bugs than just earthworms. I'm sure there are others that would defend the use of DE. It all depends whether you want to establish an ecosystem within the coop/run that will naturally handle the chicken manure and add some health/nutritional benefits.

Interesting! I was under the impression that once DE got wet, it was no longer effective in killing bugs with an exoskeleton. Hmmmmm!

When wet, my understanding is that DE soft and it loses it's ability to slice the exoskeletons. I'm not sure whether once it dries out (and hardens?) whether it can regain it's prior exoskeleton slicing capabilities. So yes, when wet it loses it's effectiveness...but when it dries back out...????? Somebody smarter than me will have to answer that question.

There are several articles that claim DE does not harm earth worms.
