A while back I hatched some Chinese (button) quail. I don’t know exactly why, but seven of the eight died. My best guess is a ventilation problem in the brooder, and fumes from a new poultry light I was using. (I’ve since stopped using the light, after it got a little wet and decided to VIOLENTLY EXPLODE.)

Anyway, the survivor had splay leg as a chick, and I stupidly never fixed it because I was worried I might accidentally hurt her more. She (I’m guessing girl by color, but don’t know for sure) is currently alone, and terrified of people.
Would it be better to keep her on her own? I also remember hearing that girls are more territorial, but I don’t know if she could handle a rowdy roo with the way her right leg is dislocated. But then I feel bad because she chirps like she’s looking for someone, and seems to be kind of lonely.
Should I try to find other birds around her age, or should I just keep her alone?
