Disappointing Kitchen Accessories

I packed up several appliances & sent them to goodwill last year. Some had never been out of the box they came in (gifts). I find I can do almost anything with a good set of knives, and it's easy clean-up. I do have a little mini-chop I pull out when I make deviled eggs or cranberry-orange relish, it does a great job of mincing all the ingredients together quickly & finer texture than I can do by hand.

Only thing I wish I had was mom's old old blender. That thing could chop up anything. Today, to get something that good you have a spend some kinda money. Other than that yep, a few good knives and I'm off. I do use a handheld mixer these days to make whipped cream. Can't really do it with just a fork and a bowl any more since wrist surgery.

I think every kitchen accessory I have had has been a disappointment. Bread machine, waffle maker, stand mixer, food processor, blender,...etc. I have found simple gadgets are the best. Plus makes for so much more room in the kitchen.

Oh, I LOVE my kitchen aid stand mixer - wouldn't trade it for the world. My bread machine gets a lot of use too, though more for dough than making bread.

This is what my grandmother bought me that I still have yet to use. (6 months later). Someday I'll give it a try. My son would probably love it. But the DH and my other son don't like pie.

That's all I used my bread machine for too. Then I gave it to a friend and yep, it's just to mix the dough. Because they bake it terrible.

I love pie but I wouldnt' use such a thing either. Much simpler to just use a pie dish and and oven and make a full sized one.

Yes, it would be easier to just make a whole pie.

That thing would be perfect for making little meat pies. Pies don't have to be sweet, they can be a main dish. I wouldn't buy one, but if someone gave it to me, I'd use it.

I keep looking at a food processor but haven't taken that leap yet.

I do love my little immersion blender.

I use my food processor a lot. I use it to chop nuts, and I chop a lot of nuts. I use it for grating. So much easier than using a hand grater. I grate cheese and I grate the soap needed to make home made laundry soap. Grating a bar of soap by hand is really a chore, but I can zip it through the food processor in seconds. Chopping whole almonds with a knife isn't exactly a joy, but it is a snap with the food processor.. I don't use it for much else, but it gets used a lot.

The immersion blender is hands down the magical tool to make mayonnaise.

I love my KitchenAid mixer and all the accessories that goes with it! Wonderful!

I like my Black and Decker mini food processor, great for little minced things or a small batch of homemade sauce.

Presto Fry Daddy....went thru two of them and they are wonderful!

My blender, well, it sits in the cupboard. Not much usage but it comes in handy for milk shakes.

Presto Pizzaz Pizza Oven, yep, its a nice gadget but only used it three times since I bought it earlier this year. I'm putting it on Craiglist. I'd rather pop them in the oven and pizza stones.

Frying pan cover screen. Sitting in the cupboard for YEARS. Will be gone.

Waffle irons....they dont make them like they used to. POS if you ask me...too soft or it would get too hard if you want a crunchy texture. Never a happy medium. You almost have to go antique shopping for those good old waffle irons or get a professional grade which would cost you a lot of money. All those "cuties" designs....who cares! Make pancakes and design it into Mickey mouse pancakes kids would love!

George Forman grill, not too bad but not too good for thick pieces of meat. I didn't miss it when I went thru two of them. Those indoor grills (burners and rack) didn't last long because it was too messy.

Spiraled wisks.......worthless in my kitchen. I'd rather have the professional grade wire wisks. Stands up better than those yo yo push down thingys. It simply don't mix well with eggs and gravies.

Steak knives....tossed those things out and bought those small hand sized or paring knives by a German knife maker. (Gustof?) I bought four of those and perfect for cutting up meat. No need to "saw" the meat and I never could understand why steak knives were invented!

I don't use the knife accessories that comes with the butcher block knife holder. A paring knife (or two), one medium, a meat cleaver is all I use on all of my cutting, including trimming meat from bone from a deer. The meat cleaver is also perfect for cutting pizzas!

I like Pampered Chef bamboo spoons! Some stoneware items as well. I love my Lodge iron cookware and Saladmaster stainless steel pots and pans. One small non sticking pan for scrambled eggs or fried eggs in a hurry!

One round commercial grade flat pizza pan 18 inch and one rectangle doubled layered cookie tray is all I usually use in bakewares.

I had to purge my kitchen a month ago...it was unbelieveable many of it I never used but donated it to a thrift store that supports the help for violence victims/kids and food pantries in the area.
