Disappointing Kitchen Accessories

The ONLY thing I use my George Foreman grill for is to cook bacon. I love how it cooks it and it doesn't make a huge mess splattering everywhere. I'd rather stick my meat on my BBQ.

The only thing I use my food processor for is coleslaw since we like it finely chopped, but you still have to slice it to get it in. Those Fry Daddys are great for frying fish, oysters, and chicken fingers--better than any of my skillets.

Thinking about it, I do use a salad shooter some, for cheese (I buy blocks and shred my own, I don't need that starch they put in the pre-shredded to keep it from clumping) and for coleslaw. My honey likes very fine slaw, so the salad shooter works a treat! Don't really use it for much else, though.............

Since I don't have a dishwasher, it takes longer for me to grate cheese in the food processor and then wash the darned thing than it does to just grate the stuff by hand. lol.

I don't think most people use a blender any more because they use food processors instead. The two do very similar things. Basically they chop stuff up. It's just that the food processors come with grating/slicing attachments.

I hardly ever use our blender - only for malts, shakes and ice cream drinks.
My mom used hers all the time, but I can't remember what she was dong with it. I remember washing the blender base, but what she made for supper that needed to be blended, I don't know. Maybe she was just pulling it out of the cupboard just to make me wash it!

The newer blenders that we have had also don't have the power of the old ones. We had one that would stall making breadcrumbs from dried storebought bread heals.

Bingo. My mom's old blender would turn ice to a slurry without a hitch. The only thing we can get now with the power of those is a Vita Mix.

the ninja blenders...are suposed to be good and powerfull..have great reviews ...I want one!!..i like that they are bigger...and have 6 blades...my blender..is a bit finicky...getting at stuff...

WyoDreamer, I'll be interested to know how you like your KitchenAid. I've been looking and seen mixed reviews. I use the attachment on my mixer for lots of things, but there are some things I like sliced uniform but quite a bit thicker so I'm wondering if that variable on the food processor works.

For me the most disappointing "gadgets" have been garlic mincers...I've tried several and always just go back to my knife...they're all more trouble than they're worth :(
