Disappointing Kitchen Accessories

I just don't like the hand held blenders! Their goal is to evening coat their surroundings, not mix.

Also, not a big fan of electric knifes. Some folks (like my mom) manage to get ones that work for awhile, but after 3 that die the 2nd or 3rd use, I'm done with them.

Love my kitchen aid, and good regular knifes. Oh, also like the useful multipurpose of good canning/freezing jars. Storage-good. Freezing-good. Canning-good. AND, doesn't hold scents and flavors like plastic storage, and my dog doesn't chew them up. (We've got a mastiff cross who has no trouble reaching the sink).

Love my electric knife and I have had it for 20 years at least use it maybe 4-5 times a year at best. Even lent it to a friend and she used it and forgot to return it so I went to WallyWorld and bought her one and brought mine back home. I too love my Kitchen Aid.

Oh, don't get me started on dishwashers. Put in dirty dishes and they give you back hot dirt!

Felt the same what about dishwashers used them for storage. My son bought me a Kitchen Aid dishwasher one year and then I read an article that, my husband brought from work, it said to scrap all the food off with a spatula and do not rinse the dishes as it removes the acids that the soap needed to attach itself to in order to clean your dishes. I followed the advice and have been using mine weekly since it is a time saver. My mother washes her dishes then puts them in the dishwasher so you can use anything out of there before she runs it at night. If you place a packet of lemonade kool-aide into the dishwasher and run it empty it helps to clean it.

Where did people get the idea you have to wash dishes before putting in the dishwasher? Or better yet, where did they get the idea you could let filthy food dry on dishes and chunks of stuff and put them in there too, when you know you need to run those chunks through the garbage disposal first? I never cease to be amazed at the lack of teaching that some folks have. Seriously.

Just rinse them and scrape the crap off, then in the dishwasher they go. No, you NEVER EVER leave them sit there to dry out, and no, you don't leave scraps of meat and food on them either. Treat them as though you are about to wash them yourself, but don't. It's so EASY to just rinse off a plate or whatever while the food in it is still moist. Gosh.

We scrape off the dishes before going into the dishwasher - well usually. And I have been known to run a rinse cycle and let it sit for 30 minutes before running the wash cycle just to re-moisten the gunk on the dishes. Unfortunatly, with only the two of us, the dishes can sit a day or more before there is enough to run a load. I refuse to run less than 1/2 full. Water is precious in the desert.

I live in the High Desert so I know full well what you mean about water. I like you only run a full load and after following the instructions that were in a local paper I have never had a problem with food sticking to the dishes after that. I use a plastic scrubber to get the food off the plate and put them in the dishwasher sometimes they will sit for a day or two but they do come out clean without a pre-rinse. The only thing that I have found to stick is avocado not sure why so I was any plate or utensil that had an avocado on it.

I think the wash the dishes before they go in is old school, my 86 year old father in law did the same as my mom, before he came to live with us, wash and rinse then put them in the dishwasher, why bother? I will do this during holidays when there is a lot of dish washing going on I wash stick them in the dishwasher and as soon as it is full I run the rinse cycle.

If you rinse the freshly left goo off the plate as soon as it's put in the sink, you don't have to run a bit of a rinse and "save water" before washing them in the dishwasher. Cause no food ever even dries on them. No ketchup, no nothing.

If you put them down for the dogs to pre-rinse, they're ready to go right in the dishwasher. Just sayin'.

Now, watch how many folks I'm going to completely gross out with my dogs licking my dishes
