Oh heavens yes. I use canning jars for everything. Even canning at times! lol

I just don't like the hand held blenders! Their goal is to evening coat their surroundings, not mix.![]()
Also, not a big fan of electric knifes. Some folks (like my mom) manage to get ones that work for awhile, but after 3 that die the 2nd or 3rd use, I'm done with them.
Love my kitchen aid, and good regular knifes. Oh, also like the useful multipurpose of good canning/freezing jars. Storage-good. Freezing-good. Canning-good. AND, doesn't hold scents and flavors like plastic storage, and my dog doesn't chew them up. (We've got a mastiff cross who has no trouble reaching the sink).
Oh, don't get me started on dishwashers. Put in dirty dishes and they give you back hot dirt!![]()
We scrape off the dishes before going into the dishwasher - well usually. And I have been known to run a rinse cycle and let it sit for 30 minutes before running the wash cycle just to re-moisten the gunk on the dishes. Unfortunatly, with only the two of us, the dishes can sit a day or more before there is enough to run a load. I refuse to run less than 1/2 full. Water is precious in the desert.
If you put them down for the dogs to pre-rinse, they're ready to go right in the dishwasher. Just sayin'.Where did people get the idea you have to wash dishes before putting in the dishwasher? Or better yet, where did they get the idea you could let filthy food dry on dishes and chunks of stuff and put them in there too, when you know you need to run those chunks through the garbage disposal first? I never cease to be amazed at the lack of teaching that some folks have. Seriously.
Just rinse them and scrape the crap off, then in the dishwasher they go. No, you NEVER EVER leave them sit there to dry out, and no, you don't leave scraps of meat and food on them either. Treat them as though you are about to wash them yourself, but don't. It's so EASY to just rinse off a plate or whatever while the food in it is still moist. Gosh.
