Disappointing Kitchen Accessories

Not us. (and we don't even use a dishwasher.)

Just bought a new cheese slicer that was rather disappointing. It's not adjustable and the slices are about 1/2" thick. Way to thick for cheese & crackers.

We have one of those - if you are talking about one of the wire ones. I found that if you place the wire at the thickness that you want the cheese cut, push down a little into the cheese and then tip the handle up until the roller touches the cheese to cut. Just make sure not to change the angle of the handle as you press down to cut. I used one like yours for over a year before I found an adjustable one at a kitchen store. It was pricey, but at least the new one came with 2 spare wires.

If you put them down for the dogs to pre-rinse, they're ready to go right in the dishwasher. Just sayin'.

Now, watch how many folks I'm going to completely gross out with my dogs licking my dishes

No, my husband grossed me out the first time he handed our dog a plate he said "What? You're going to wash them aren't you?" It just he idea but now that his father is living with us he doesn't do that anymore. Truly thought he was the only one that did that, silly me.

Do not like grating cheese in the food processor.

I don't either. In fact I do almost nothing with a food processor any more. If I must use such a thing, I use the blender instead. Because it's a ton easier to wash.

I do all my grating with a hand held grater and slicing with a knife.

The other day, I watched my Husband use the food processor to grate cheese - which I always do in the food processor because I always seem to grate my knuckles on a hand grater and chunks of skin is not good eats. However, since we had company for dinner and needed alot of cheese for pizza he just kept grating more and more cheese into the bowl - even after it was full. So I got the pleasure of trying to scrape the smeared, creamed cheese out of all the nooks and crannies of the stupid thing.
I do appreciate that he was trying to help prep for supper.

LOL!!! The thing mesmerized him!

What the deal is with a hand grater is, that you have to be careful and keep your fingers out of the way. Something us old folks learned to do young that these young'uns that are so impatient never learned. hehe.

How old do you have to be to be considered part of the "Us old folks" group? I'm with you a grater and a nice sharp knife are fast and easy clean up.

I don't use the microwave much anymore food heats up better in the oven.

Haha I don't know how old. Probably my kids are "old folks" the same way I am in some things. I'm with you on the microwave! I still have one and for heating water fast, there's nothing better. But food? Eh. Makes it overdone yet mushy. It takes longer but the oven gives you a much better tasting food.

Up early....We are up at 4:00 a.m. as well...I think we are "old folks" if we remember a mimeograph machine and know how to use one.

I do not always like my dryer I at times long for the smell of clothes that were dried on the line...loved to see diapers all white and clean on a clothes line.
