One of my hens started laying eggs with slight discoloration and texture difference on the bottom a couple of days ago. I didn't see anything online that quite matched what this looks like, does anyone have any experience with what might be causing it?

Some hens will occasionally lay oddly colored eggs for a while and then it stops. There can be many causes. It isn't anything to worry about, I tend to think of it as the paint sprayer is clogged. It usually goes back to normal after a while.

How old is this bird?
Is the shell thin or porous where the discoloration appears?
If not, I second @oldhenlikesdogs' conclusion, spray booth glitch.

Shes about a 1 and 1/2 old, and it doesn't appear to be. I'm a new chicken owner, so I get a lil nervous about the ladies health. Appreciate the help though!

X2 to both. There are all sorts of glitches that occur in the incredibly involved process of building an egg. Commercial screening has conditioned us to think of eggs as always being perfect, but you'll be amazed at the myriad of different glitches you'll see if you keep a flock long enough. Until/ unless out becomes the norm vs as oddity nothing to eorry about

My golden comet lays an egg like this every now and then. Every morning like clockwork she lays between 7:00-8:00 am. On the rare occasion she doesn't the egg looks just like that when it finally comes out. She will act egg bound later in the day and then finally drop her egg in the run (not even trying to make it to the nest box). I'm not a vet but my opinion is because she is a hybrid meant for mass egg production her system gets messed up easily and the egg sits to long in the "paint booth" (for lack of a scientific term) and gets this weird over spray.
