Discuss the pecking order with me - I need help!

How much do you know about the pecking order? My chickens just baffle me - it changes all the time. The leader fell down a few notches after acquiring a permanent leg injury and now everything's in chaos. Especially since it's all getting rearranged now that one died yesterday. How can I help my outcast hen be accepted by the others? I suspect the bully hen is one of the reasons behind her patchy, bald wings (see my thread, Help my chook grow feathers!)

If you pen the bully by herself for a few days it knocks her down lower in peck order, albeit temporarily.

That will be tough as we don't have an alternative pen.
