That’s a good idea. If the spots turn out to be leakage, then that same leakage may show up in the offspring, but it would be red. You would be able to easily tell if it’s mottling or not.I don't a have a pure gold colored bantam to breed her to. I do have a Blue Gold, Crow-wing Rooster, who is a mix of OEGB X Phoenix.
I have Porcelain D'uccles, so I can cross the OEGB to one of them.
Don’t use porcelain d’uccles. They have some of the same genes that could produce mottling-like leakage. They’re mille fleur with two copies of the lavender gene (and I believe they also have cream?). I should’ve been more specific. By “lavender”, I mean the self blue variety, which is black with two copies of the lavender gene, so will behave like solid black in first gen crosses.
