Discussing details of mottled chicken genetics

Here's my new 7 month old cockerel/rooster that I got yesterday. He's a molted and was developed here in AZ. She named this creation of her's "Aloha's". I named this boy Manoa. These are really big!

She's a cross of Buff Orpington/Barred Rock X RIR.
She looks like an Iowa Blue for example.

The bird in the picture looks like she should have either the pattern gene or perhaps e^b (Partridge) to get that multiple lacing, but I wouldn't expect that from the parents you list.

From that cross, I would expect e^wh (wheaten) from the Orpington and Rhode Island Red, because she clearly did not get E (Extended Black) from the Barred Rock grandparent.

I've read a lot about what the genes are supposed to do, but I'm not good at recognizing them in person or in pictures, so I'm not sure what to think about your hen

Her dad was Dino's dad, & mother was a RIR.

No, I decided not to do that, & down size the bantam flock. I'm keeping Bigfoot if he'd be any use. I'm selling the other Bantams.

The coop was getting abit crowded.

I went and found where I listed some test crosses you could do. Both of them involve the original parents- the mille fleur d’uccle and the silver duckwing OEGB.

@MysteryChicken I have a few ideas you could use to test your theory- they aren’t necessary, but they may help you.
You believe the mother of Squeakers, a mille fleur d’uccle, carries the dominant mottling gene, correct? So, her offspring should theoretically show mottling, no matter what. To test whether she actually has a dominant mottling gene, you could breed her to a solid or almost completely solid rooster (who isn’t white) which you know has two gold genes. That would eliminate any possibly of silver in her offspring.
Also, to test whether the OEGB father carries a recessive mottling gene, you could cross him to a solid (black/blue/lavender/etc) mottled hen.

I have Black Sumatras which are solid black.

I was told to avoid silkies.

I have a Birchen EE, that's gold split to silver, but I don't think he'd be much use.
