Have you talked to avian vets?I'm sure she would have to be older anesthesia is worrisome with adult ducks I can see why they wouldn't consider surgery at her age.

Oh yes she’s eats and drinks and plays with her sister I think or brother she’s perfect every other way she hops around it’s so hard the vet I saw said she would have to be bigger but that she dint know how to do it I have called like 10 vets with no luck I have just been looking for one that actually knows how to do it

If you could figure out how to protect her knees some kind of knee pads. Maybe a pool noodle cut down?

She’s getting big and healthy I have a spot with an avian specialist hopefully this one will be able to help me. Apparently she does have to be older to actually get the surgery because she’s too small but she’s doing good. I cannot put any shavings down because she has to have something where she can get a good grip but she’s getting around really good the best she can she’s improvising, she’s not very good at swimming though so that makes me really sad. I still let her splash around and hold her so she can still enjoy it. I also cannot put the food in a feeder because I worry that she will not be able to go from the feeder to the water so I put the food around the water I kind of makes a mess, but I don’t know what else to do , I did try to do where she kind of hung up but the way her legs are for some reason they don’t even fall down. They’re so tight around her knees she cannot bend them at all, so I’m hoping the vet will be able to give me a little more answer and be able to perform the surgery to straighten her tendons but for all I know this could be a birth effect. I don’t hopefully they will still be able to fix it. The other. Vet said it’s definitely a tendon is out of place so I’m thinking she was just in a bad position in the egg , but other than her legs, she is happy and healthy. She plays with her sister all day. They are super attached. She did flip over once this week. I saw her on the camera and almost lost my mind. Thank goodness my daughter was home so I was able to get her to go in the room and flip her back over but things like that just scare me so much.

I cleaned their cage at least three times a day because I know she’s on her belly and I don’t want her rolling around and poop but she does a pretty good job of keeping herself clean. She can reach her oil gland and she can bathe herself too. She’s been standing up on her knees to get around, my worry is that the older she gets I just hope it doesn’t get painful for her but she can’t be in the Brewer anymore. Worst case the doctors not able to help her. I will make her something where she won’t be walking around on her knees, and maybe something under her belly because her belly touches the floor too most of the time

They are adorable. They make wheelchairs and many make them themselves. There is websites online, but hopefully, the vet will be able to do surgery and correct this. If not She sure couldn't ask for a better duck mommy. Keeping her on soft cushions I wonder if using something like foam and covering with waterproof material would help protect her knees . Years ago like 12 yrs ago when I had my Muscovy duckling inside I bought pillow cases that were waterproof for his crate and used some foam like you place on top of a bed mattress. This was easy to clean and was soft. I had 4 and just replaced as needed wash them and reused them. Puppy pee pads on top would also help absorb some of the poo too.
I don't think she would do well outside on hard ground walking on her knees.

No I don’t either. I think if they’re not able to do anything, she would kind of be able to go outside for a little bit in the day just to get outside and get fresh air and then she probably have to live with me inside which is fine I would make it to where it would work Only thing I worry about is her sister will probably have to go outside with the other ducks and they are so attached but I will figure it out either way it’s Thursday it’s about an hour away from me the doctor and like $200 for the visit I guess cause it’s a specialist so I’m hoping that means she’ll be able to do it I’m gonna call though on Tuesday just to give them a little more information because I know one thing if I drive all the way out there just for them to tell me the same same thing the other Vet told me I will be livid because I explained to them exactly to the T what is going on with her legs it’s not that hard to figure out , she has slipped tendons. You can see in her little knees the tenant that is completely not where it’s supposed to be when I look at her sister’s legs bent they look totally different and you can see that the tenant is not in the right place that’s what the other doctor told me and diagnosed her with so it shouldn’t be hard for me to ask them in general question will this doctor be able to perform surgery to fix this? It should be an easy yes or no you know what I mean and I feel like no matter who I talk to you. Nobody can just give me a direct answer , but when I looked it up online, it looks like the doctor does specialize in soft tissue surgery and some other big word that basically means like surgery on legs and body parts and someway I’m guessing so I’m hoping that means she can do it from what I read I think a duck has one bone in their leg. Maybe I’m wrong but I believe that’s what I read so I think it would be just as much as cutting her little leg open and putting the tendon backwards supposed to be or putting some kind of splint I’m not sure I know she’ll have to be with me after surgery at work. I will have to bring her with me there to watch her until she heals , but that is the goal that she will one day walk the best she can even if it’s not perfect but at least just to get her off of the ground. Yes I’m gonna try that mattress mess method because I’m sure it doesn’t feel good. Walking around on your knees. I really do hope that they can fix her because I let her have a swim today and it looks like she cannot swim. She kind of sank and the way her little legs move she couldn’t swim And I don’t know if it’s gonna get better as she gets older or not it doesn’t look like it and I know a duck that doesn’t swim. It’s gonna be rough. I mean I will help her of course so she can clean herself and enjoy but it just makes me sad . Feel like it’s my fault in someway. I did something wrong during incubation or something it tears me up. My first set of call duck eggs I listen to other people online that told me to keep duck eggs around 55 to 60% and at lockdown. All of the air cells were not big enough and almost all of them except one passed away from obvious drowning so with her eggs I made sure to keep the humidity low and just monitor air cells but maybe I kept it too low and she ran out of room and that’s why her knees are the way they Are, I just feel so bad her sister was OK but still I feel bad

You cannot blame yourself you listened to other info and followed. We have experienced hatchers on here so if you ever do this again they can help you and we know which ones to call on. But please don't blame yourself. We all learn from the experience you had one hatch normally[ you did hatch the little yellow one right] same temp same humidity? and then this little one that didn't, we have seen many ducklings hatch with slipped tendons. it is something that happens, whether it's from too high humidity or too low things just happen and sometimes we have no control over it. You are dedicated to this little one and that is what counts now. Lets just pray this vet will be able to help.
